Advanced Bands

Our Advanced Bands are made up of second and third year band students.  While these students will review Beginner Band concepts, they will also have regular before/after school practices and concentrate on more complex music and rhythms.  These students will perform at pep rallies, football games, Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as compete in either UIL or a similar festival. 

Grading Policy   

Daily (20%) Bringing materials daily (5 pts off per item, per day)                Materials Needed: instrument, reed/mouthpiece, binder, music, pencil             

Minor Grades (30%)   In class written/playing tests AND playing journals (DUE EVERY MONDAY) AND sectional attendance                                                        

Major Grades (50%) Concert attendance and dress (includes before/after school rehearsals/clinics, football activities, and all-region)                                                     

Performance Dress:                                                                                         

Pep Rally/Football Game/Fall Concert:  Blue Jeans/Band T-Shirt                                                      

Concerts/UIL:  “Concert Black”  (NO sneakers/jeans)    Boys—Slacks, long sleeved collared shirt (tucked in), black socks and shoes   Girls—skirt/dress (must be below knees when sitting) or slacks, dress shirt, closed toed black shoes
