Director of Bands
Rachael Davis has been the Director of Bands at Pioneer Heritage Middle School since 2015. Her responsibilities include directing Wind Ensemble & Concert Band, assisting with Symphonic Band, as well as teaching all of the beginner brass classes.
Ensembles under Mrs. Davis' direction have consistently earned Sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contests as well as "Best In Class" in multiple festivals across the state of Texas. In 2023, the Pioneer Heritage Wind Ensemble advanced to the CCC State Honor Band Semi-Finals.
Mrs. Davis was named Pioneer Heritage's Teacher of the Year for the 2019-20 school year.
Prior to working at Pioneer Heritage, Mrs. Davis served as the Director of Bands in Grand Prairie ISD, and Associate Director in Judson ISD in San Antonio. Mrs. Davis was awarded Teacher of the Year for Grand Prairie ISD for the 2014-15 school year.
Mrs. Davis is a native of Lewisville, Texas and an alumni of Texas State University.
Mrs. Davis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University - San Marcos with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, where she studied with Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt.
Mrs. Davis served as principal French horn of both the Wind Ensemble and the Symphony Orchestra, and as Drum Major of the Bobcat Marching Band.
Mrs. Davis still plays horn professionally at Stonebriar Community Church.
While at Texas State, Mrs. Davis earned awards such as Most Outstanding Wind Ensemble Member and Most Outstanding Music Education Student.
Mrs. Davis' professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and the International Horn Society.
Mrs. Davis lives in Aubrey with her daughter Audrey, and their 2 dogs, Mayzie and Murphy, and 2 cats, Strauss and Figaro.

Jennifer Teed

Jennifer Teed is the Assistant Director of Bands at Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco ISD. Her responsibilities include directing the Symphonic Band and Concert Band, assisting in Wind Ensemble, as well as teaching all of the beginner woodwind classes. Under the direction of Mrs. Teed, all ensembles have received superior ratings in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contests and have received top scores from the judges at festivals across the state. Last year, the 2021 Pioneer Heritage Symphonic Band was named a Citation of Excellence Winner by the Foundation for Music Education.
Prior to working at Pioneer Heritage, Mrs. Teed served as the Assistant Director of Bands at McKinney Boyd High School in McKinney ISD.
Mrs. Teed is a native of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and is an alumni of The University of Oklahoma, where she completed a Masters Degree in Clarinet Performance and a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. While at The University of Oklahoma, Mrs. Teed was a member of The Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Brian Britt and served as principal clarinet of both the Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dr. William Wakefield, and the Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Shames.

Scott Baldwin

Scott Baldwin is the percussion coordinator at Reedy High School, Pioneer Heritage Middle School, and Pearson Middle School. He received his BM and MAT in Music Education from the University of Louisville, and MM in Percussion Performance from the University of Florida. Mr. Baldwin marched with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps ('98) and Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps ('95-'97).
Prior to his appoint in Frisco ISD, Mr. Baldwin served as the Percussion Coordinator of the Hebron Cluster from 2002 to 2015. He coordinated all activities percussion related from grades 6-12 including marching percussion through the concert percussion ensembles. The group has performed with varies artists such as Gregg Bissonette, Steve Smith, Lalo Davila, Tommy Igoe, and Dave Samuels.
He is an active clinician, adjudicator and performer throughout the country. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association and Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity. Emily MaGee

Emily Magee is a resident of Fort Worth, Texas where she teaches percussion professionally and performs on the side. She is currently the Assistant Percussion Director with Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas, where she also works with Pearson Middle School and Pioneer Heritage Middle School. Ms. MaGee received her Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Instrumental Music Education, and her Master’s Degree from Texas Christain University in Percussion Performance. She has proudly studied under Lalo Davila, Dr. Brian Mueller, Julie Davila, Matt Jordan, Dr. Brian A West, and Joey Carter.
In the education world, Emily has taught many high school and middle school percussion programs throughout Tennessee, North Carolina, and Texas. She is proud to have co-instructed the Rock Springs Middle School Percussion Ensemble as they performed at the 2018 TMEA in Tennessee. She also co-owns and operates a marching percussion arrangement/composition company, EMDS Percussion.

Gavin Smith

Gavin Smith is the Director of Bands at Reedy High School. Mr. Smith grew up in south Texas in a suburb of Corpus Christi. After high school, he completed his undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University. During his time at Texas Tech he had the opportunity to perform as lead trumpet with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Smith's first teaching position was in Holliday ISD as the Assistant Director of Bands, focusing on the beginning brass, percussion, 7th grade band, Symphonic Band (the second ensemble), and the marching band. He completed his Masters in Music Education and Conducting from Kansas State University, where he was a Graduate Teaching Assistant focusing on marching band, pep band, concert ensembles, and multiple courses.
After completing his Masters, he moved to Nashville, TN to work at Vanderbilt University for eight years. During his tenure he was charged with the marching band, pep band, multiple concert ensembles, and overseeing the music education degree program for undergraduate and master level students. Mr. Smith completed his second year at Illinois State University where he has been in charge of overseeing the entire band program. During this time, the band program traveled and performed across the Midwest and Ireland, where the marching band traveled and performed across the country during St. Patrick’s week. He is married to his wife, Melanie, and they have a two children and their dog.

Jeremy DeWinter

Jeremy DeWinter is the Associate Director of Bands at Rick Reedy High School in Frisco, TX. At Reedy, Mr. DeWinter serves as a co-director of the Reedy Marching Band as well as the conductor of the Wind Symphony and the Symphonic Band.
Most Recently, prior to arriving at Reedy, Mr. DeWinter served as the Director of Bands at Campbell High School in the Cobb County School District outside of Atlanta, GA. While at Campbell, Mr. DeWinter led the program through a state of rapid growth. The Campbell Band Program was a cohesive program including 3 concert bands, marching band, jazz band, winter guard, and indoor
percussion. The marching band competed annually across the Metro Atlanta area and in the Southeast United States consistently earning Superior ratings and class placement awards. The concert bands at Campbell also grew in size and quality, consistently earning Superior and Excellent Ratings in LGPE Evaluations.
Mr. DeWinter has also held previous positions as the Assistant Director of Bands at Permian High School in the Ector County ISD and as the Director of Bands at San Jacinto Jr. High School in the Midland ISD.
A native of Centerburg, Ohio, Mr. DeWinter received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Miami University of Ohio. While at Miami he studied Saxophone with Jeffery Powers, Jeremy Long, and Adam McCord. He has also had an intensive conducting study with Gary A. Speck. As both a saxophonist and vocalist, Mr. DeWinter has performed with the Miami University Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Men’s Glee Club. In 2008, he toured with the Miami Glee Club to China performing as part of the Beijing Olympic Festival. In 2019, Mr. DeWinter earned his Masters of Music Education at Florida State University.
Aside from working as a music educator, Mr. DeWinter has also spent time working with Music for All (formerly Bands of America). He has served that organization as a Private Consultant
with the Marketing and Communications Department. He continues to work each year as site staff with the BOA Regional Championships and MFA National Concert Band Festival.
Additionally, each summer he works as an instructor with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy.

Tanner Smith

Mr. Smith joined the staff in 2016 as Director of Bands at Wakeland HS. At Wakeland his responsibilities include the Marching Band, Wind Symphony and overall program direction. He also assists with Concert Band I and II, as well as the Symphonic Band and Middle School ensembles. He came to Wakeland HS from Independence HS in Frisco ISD.
Mr. Smith grew up in Austin and Sugar Land, Texas where he studied with the late Ms. Diane Gorzycki and Mr. Dean Westman, both of whom inspired him to become an educator. Prior to Wakeland, Mr. Smith had previously taught at Independence (Frisco), Allen High School (Allen, TX) and Garner Middle School (San Antonio, Texas).
Mr. Smith is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the National Bandmasters Association. He currently lives in Frisco with his wife Corey and their dogs Rex and Chester.

Daniel Berard

Daniel Berard joins Wakeland as a 26-year veteran educator with a wide range of experience with students of all levels, from beginning to professional musicians. Most recently, he served as Director of Bands at Grain Valley High School (Grain Valley, MO) where he was responsible for all aspects of the large, vibrant, and successful Band program, and coordinated district music activities.
Prior to that position, Mr. Berard held the Director of Bands position at Fossil Ridge High School (Ft. Collins, CO), having had the opportunity to open the school in 2004. During his tenure at Fossil Ridge, the Band program grew to national prominence, earning multiple state championships in Marching Band, numerous state awards and consistent “Superior” ratings in concert and jazz performance, and two invitations as a featured ensemble at the prestigious Music For All National Concert Band Festival, held in Indianapolis (2012 & 2016).
Mr. Berard received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and Master of Music degrees in Music Education and Instrumental Conducting from Colorado State University. He has been a member of the instructional team of several world-class Drum & Bugle Corps, including The Madison Scouts, The Cavaliers, and The Cadets. He is also a staff member for SASI - the Leadership People, a Texas-based organization specializing in providing leadership training for thousands of students nation-wide each year.

Mr. Berard has received the National Band Association Citation of Excellence, and in 2012 was named one of the "50 Directors Who Make a Difference" by School Band & Orchestra Magazine.

Elizabeth Perry

Lizzie Perry is a native Texan, originally born in Round Rock, TX. After moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, she attended John H. Guyer High School. Mrs. Perry earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington where she studied clarinet under Dr. Cheyenne Cruz. She performed in many ensembles, including the Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Douglas Stotter and University Singers directed by Dr. John Wayman. Mrs. Perry was also a four-year member of the Maverick Marching Band, serving as undergraduate assistant in her final year. She has taught at various schools in the DFW area as a marching band instructor, which include Coppell, McKinney North, and Guyer High School.
Mrs. Perry recently served as drum major for the Santa Clara Vanguard for the 2020 season after joining the drum corps in 2019. She was also a member of Orion Winds for their inaugural season in 2019. Mrs. Perry also serves as the Secretary and co-chairperson of the DEI committee for the Vanguard Emerging Leaders and is a founding member of the organization. She currently spends some of her summers on the road with Vanguard as a tour administrator.

She currently spends some of her summers on the road with Vanguard as a tour administrator.

Brian Teed

Mr. Teed joined the Wakeland Band in 2018 as the former Director of Percussion at The Colony High School in The Colony, TX and Rockwall-Heath High School in Heath, TX. The Colony High School has had many individual and ensemble successes during Mr. Teed’s time including competing at the 5A State Marching Contest for the first time in nearly 10-years.
Mr. Teed is originally from The Woodlands, Texas where he had the privilege of being under the direction of Mr. Andrew Salmon at The Woodlands High School. He holds a master’s degree in Percussion Performance and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded the Ronald J. Dyer award for outstanding contributions to the OU Percussion Studio. During his graduate degree, Mr. Teed taught the University of Oklahoma Drumline alongside Mr. Glen Buecker, was the Assistant Director of the OU Steel Drum Band, and was the Director for the “Sooner Showmen” Women’s Basketball Band.
Mr. Teed has performed at numerous conventions and festivals including the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, The National Convention on Percussion Pedagogy in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. During his time at OU, he earned first place in the University of Oklahoma Concerto Competition in the Graduate Division (2013) and Undergraduate Division (2011). He was a founding member of the Norman Philharmonic Orchestra.
His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society. He is also an educational artist for Vic Firth.
Mr. Teed currently resides in Aubrey with his wife Jennifer, who is the Assistant Band Director at Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco ISD, and their twins Oliver and Kaitlyn.
Mr. Teed is originally from The Woodlands, Texas where he had the privilege of being under the direction of Mr. Andrew Salmon at The Woodlands High School. He holds a master’s degree in Percussion Performance and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded the Ronald J. Dyer award for outstanding contributions to the OU Percussion Studio. During his graduate degree, Mr. Teed taught the University of Oklahoma Drumline alongside Mr. Glen Buecker, was the Assistant Director of the OU Steel Drum Band, and was the Director for the “Sooner Showmen” Women’s Basketball Band.
Mr. Teed has performed at numerous conventions and festivals including the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, The National Convention on Percussion Pedagogy in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
